A selection of period rooms show the development of American furniture and art from the arrival of the Pilgrim Fathers to the eve of the Civil War. Special galleries devoted to Textiles. New American Heritage exhibition looking at Native Americans, Westward expansion & approach to Civil War. Grounds include a replica of part of George Washington's garden at Mount Vernon, Virginia, and an American Arboretum.
