DhekBhal is a community based charity that provides a range of culturally responsive services to meet the identified needs of South Asian people living in Bristol and South Gloucestershire.
Our services include:
OLDER MEN'S DAYCENTRE (aged 55+)
Provides an opportunity for older isolated, frail, disabled men to meet once every third Wednesday of the month within a culturally appropriate setting for friendship, mutual support, to access information in their language of choice. There are trips, activities to maintain physical, social and mental well being. The support and social network helps to maintain their independence and empower them in having choice and control. Vegetarian and 'Halal' food is provided. Transport is available to the centre.
OLDER WOMEN'S DAYCENTRE (aged 55+)
Provides an opportunity for older isolated, frail, disabled women to meet twice weekly on Monday and Tuesday for friendship, mutual support, access to information in language of their choice, activities to maintain physical, social and mental well being. Vegetarian and 'Halal' food is provided, there are day trips, shopping trips. Transport to and from the centre.
The aim of this project is to support, advise and provide information to South Asian carers, who live in Bristol and South Gloucestershire.
Carers Support Group
Meetings are held bi-monthly on Wednesdays. These sessions offer carers an opportunity to meet other carers in similar situations as themselves and to provide mutual support, friendship and information for carers.
Activities, courses and outings are also incorporated into these sessions. This group is carer led and all ideas and suggestions from carers are welcome.
Free transport service and sitting service can be arranged for those who wish to attend this group.
This covers personal care and domestic help.

In most cases the service user only pays an annual membership of £2 and for lunch and transport if they attend day centre (Contact for more details).
Sitting Service £20 per hour.
Day Centre £35 per session (up to 5 hours, 10:00-15:00)
Weekdays 8:00-18:00 £15.82 per hour
After 18:00 and week-ends £18 per hour
