Bristol Musicspace is a charity providing music therapy for children and adults at its fully equipped centre in Southville and in community and education settings within a 30 mile radius.
All the music therapists on the team are state registered.
Music therapists use music and sounds, usually improvised, as a basis for forming relationships and developing communication. Music therapy sessions provide an opportunity for self-expression where words are difficult or impossible for whatever reason.
Referrals can be accepted from statutory authorities, carers, parents or individuals themselves. Bristol Musicspace is not currently in a position to subsidise sessions.
After an initial assessment sessions are usually weekly, lasting between 30 mins - 1 hour.
