Bristol Playbus Project is a mobile play, youth and community development resource with a fully converted double-decker bus for use as a multi-purpose mobile community resource. The project actively promotes the importance of play. The Playbus works in areas where there is inadequate play provision and also works reactively when a need for the service is identified. Playbus offer play opportunities, creative opportunities, creches, play events, pre-school and after-school sessions, youth work, training and community development work.
Work throughout the year with pre-school children, their carers, juniors, youth, young people and adults. This includes parent and toddler groups, women's groups, youth groups, traveller communities and other groups from ethnic/cultural minority backgrounds.
Free Open Play sessions are provided in Bristol parks during the school Summer holidays and Playbus can also be hired out for community consultations, creches, events and festivals.
Funded by Bristol City Council, South Gloucestershire Council and North Somerset Council; fundraising; local and national companies; and Trusts.
Also runs a 12 week programme of activities to improve the emotional health and wellbeing of women in Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities.
