Families in Touch work with families from the Bristol area, who have children with special needs and disabilities, either physical, emotional, social or behavioural. Families with a disabled child (or children) often feel isolated and the aim of Families in Touch is to help relieve stress and isolation, through the informal contact with other people, who are either in the same situation or experiencing similar problems. Playdays are held every Monday and Friday during school holidays (except Bank Holidays), for the disabled children and their brothers and sisters. Qualified play leaders and volunteers help the children with activities. Parents may accompany their children or if preferred leave them, so offering a form of respite care.
During school term time Families in Touch have many social family activities for example theatre trips, discos, shopping trips and social functions. Also hold fundraising activities, for example sponsored walks.
Coffee mornings: Once a month.
