Inclusion support coordinators are a specialist team of teachers who work in partnership with schools, parents and other agencies to address the special educational needs of children and young people with learning difficulties and disabilities.
The functions of the service are
1. To promote the inclusion and achievement of pupils with LDD by developing the capacity of schools and by providing specialist advice for individual pupils with statements of SEN.
2. To provide support to targeted schools to:
build inclusion and SEN capacity assist with planning and managing provision monitor and evaluate the progress of pupils with LDD to ensure achievementdevelop knowledge and skills on specific areas of SEN encourage working in partnership with parents advise on statutory SEN policies and practice to coordinate the Parent Support programmes for parents/carers of children with autism
