Her books include Sexuality and Patient Care, co-written with Andrew Charnock (1994); Clinical supervision a Practical Guide (2000) and Clinical Supervision Made Easy (July 2003) Churchill Livingstone.

Els Van Ooijen's qualifications: Doctor of Psychotherapy (DPsych); MA Philosophy;Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling; Certificate in Supervision; Bachelor of Arts Honours (BA Hon), Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE), British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapsits (BACP) Accredited Counsellor and United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) registered Psychotherapist.

Adheres to British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapsits (BACP) and Bath Centre for Psychotherapy and Counselling (BCPC) codes and ethics and adheres to RGN, RM & Diploma Nursing codes and ethics.
