The Recycling Consortium (TRC) is a not-for-profit organisation, whose members include The Sofa Project and The Children's Scrapstore. It was set up in 1989 to promote the 3Rs: waste reduction, reuse and recycling. Based in Bristol, it also works in South Gloucestershire, North Somerset and Bath and North East Somerset (B&NES), as well as in Oxfordshire. TRC encourages action within the community. Households, schools and community groups are supported in activities to deal with waste at a very local level. TRC specialises in: Promotion and publicity work; Canvassing and awareness-raising; Monitoring of participation in recycling schemes. Education projects: TRCs education team teach in schools throughout Bristol, S.Glos and N.Somerset, linking to course work and the national curriculum.

Support and development of community composting initiatives.
Promotion of reusable nappies: the Real Nappy Project encourages parent and professionals to rethink the use of disposable nappies; and promotes modern washables as a very real alternative.
TRC also works with local authorities and community waste organisations across the UK: providing consultancy expertise and support in dealing with waste issues; helping to build community waste sector capacity through setting up networks; building grass-roots community waste activity.
TRC works as part of Community Recycling Services Ltd on national awareness-raising and waste reduction projects.
