Rethink community support services offer individualised support to people recovering from mental illness / distress through working with a person centred approach to plan support responses. Community Mental Health Workers support the recovery and social inclusion of people using Rethink services through the development of individual recovery support plans and work on a one-to-one and one to group basis (including lone working) with people at the service as well as in the community, including at times, in people’s homes. The services also sometimes offer small focused groups based on identified goals and a recovery oriented social space. Work in the community enables us to be responsive to supporting identified aspirations and part of the CMHW role is to ‘map’ local resources as a way of improving knowledge of local facilities and expanding awareness of and opportunities for social inclusion. The role may at times include some out of hours work.
They can work out of office hours where that is identified as a specific support requirement to help recovery.
Rethink in Bristol also have a carers service that offers one-to-one and group support to people caring for a family member or friend who is living with / experiencing mental distress. Please contact 0117 3532042 for more details
There is also a Community Development Worker who works with BME communities across Bristol to improve access to services. Please contact 0117 3532041 or 0797 0892041 for more details
