Provides a helpline, counselling, group therapy and on-going support for women in the Bristol area. Specialist and confidential services are provided to women experiencing mental health problems, including depression, anxiety, stress, domestic abuse, problems arising from past physical, emotional and sexual abuse, rape, self injury and relationship difficulties. Womankind aims to help women improve their mental health and wellbeing by providing high quality services that are accessible and safe.

Services Provided:

Telephone Helpline: provides confidential and non-judgemental listening support for any woman experiencing emotional distress, including specific advice and support for women experiencing domestic or sexual
abuse. It also provides information and signposting to services offered by Womankind and other organisations. 24hr message service.

General counselling for Bristol residents who are on low incomes and benefits, including specialist counselling for deaf women, and counselling for women who have experienced sexual violence, including refugees and asylum seekers(interpreters available upon request).

A Befriending Service for isolated women with mental health problems. This service is for women living in South Gloucestershire who are referred by a professional key worker. Women are offered regular support for one year.

Volunteer opportunities in administration, helpline and befriending. Full training and expenses provided.

Services Available to People at Home

1-to-1 Counselling
- up to six months counselling available to women living in Bristol who are on benefits or low incomes.
- specialist domestic and sexual violence counselling for women including refugees, asylum seekers and trafficked women.
- specialist counselling for women who are deaf, deafened and hard of hearing.
- high intensity therapy for women referred by NHS Talking Therapies.

Befriending - volunteers provide regular support to isolated women with mental health problems. This service is offered to women living in South Gloucestershire and is accessible by means of a referral from a support worker or health professional.

Group psychotherapy -
- open-ended psychoanalytic psychotherapy groups.
- fixed-term groups focusing on specific issues e.g. childhood sexual abuse and domestic abuse.

Fee paying 1:1 counselling and group therapy services also available.

These services are accessed through our helpline. Interpreters are available upon request.
