Better Together – Pre-Employment & Confidence Building Course – WECIL

Do you identify as disabled or have a long-term health condition including learning difficulties, anxiety, depression or dyslexia? Are you thinking about starting employment or training but don’t know what step to take first or are worried about change?

If you are aged 19+ and are a Bristol resident, then our Better Together Pre-Employment & Confidence Building Course is the perfect start for your journey.

Better Together is delivered in a safe and supported environment by a tutor with a lived experience of disability.

Course objectives: During the course we look at how to improve our well-being, discover our strengths, reasonable adjustments in the workplace, and offer a safe place to talk about disability / health conditions with people who will understand.

There is also an element of peer support, IT skills, and the course is flexible to accommodate participants’ wishes. For example in our last group people expressed struggling with general life organisation so we did some work on how to keep a calendar, to-do list etc. We have also done some work on finances on another occasion.

Next steps: participants have reported increased levels of confidence and feeling more comfortable in a group setting. A high proportion of participants have gone on to do our longer employment course, Working Together, where people look at CVs, mock interviews and tackle job searching in a more tangible way.

Assistance with travel is available via Wheels to Work referrals.
