CfD – Centre for Deaf and Hard of Hearing People

Don’t always know when someone is at the door?
Struggling to hear the TV or telephone?
Worried that at night you would not hear an emergency alarm?
Want to feel more connected?
Finding it difficult to communicate with friends and family?

Our service can provide listening aid/visual alert equipment which can help keep you safe and more independent at home. If you are Deaf or Hard of Hearing living in Bristol, you may be eligible for free assistive equipment and installation from us. A trained technician will visit you at your home to install it for you. You could also be eligible for additional equipment such as a vibrating alarm clock or a TV listener. If we cannot provide the equipment you need free of charge, we can order and install items for you at a reasonable cost. Alternatively we can offer independent advice on where you can buy equipment to suit your needs.

You might be entitled to have a smoke alarm fitted by the fire service, if you are eligible for this service and would like support, ask us for more information.
