Bristol Careline – Bristol City Council
You can get support from Careline at any time using an alarm button and your telephone line.
Bristol Careline is an emergency telecare link for people who live alone, are vulnerable to falling, or need to know that help is available at the touch of a button.
A base unit plugs into your phone line, while you can wear a smaller unit as a pendant necklace around your neck, on your wrist or clipped to your clothes. The base unit has its own battery power, so you’re still protected even if the electricity in your home goes off.
If you’re in an emergency situation, pressing one of the buttons calls us and we can talk to you using the built in microphone and loudspeaker wherever you are in your home. We’ll know who you are, even if you can’t speak. We’ll immediately contact the right person from your list of people with a key to your home to get you help. This could be a friend, relative, or neighbour. We can also call the emergency services if needed.
Bristol Careline is available at any time of the day or night, every day of the year including weekends and bank holidays.
We can also provide mobile technology enabled care services to support you outside of your home.
Who can use Bristol Careline
Anyone in Bristol can use this service, as long as you have a phone line with a modern socket close to a power socket. If you don’t have a suitable phone line, we can install a device that uses a mobile network.
You may be able to use the careline if you live outside of Bristol if your council doesn’t provide a similar service. You’ll need to install this yourself.
