Bristol City Council – Disabled Employees Group
The Disabled Employees Group (DEG) is a group for disabled employees of Bristol City Council to share information, raise issues and campaign for better conditions for disabled employees.
The DEG supports Bristol City Council employee who identifies themselves as a person with a disability. The group:
- supports each other and offers constructive advice
- raise issues
- discusses local and national disability stories
- campaigns for disability rights
- reviews council policy from a disability perspective, including testing new IT software
The DEG is an integral part of the workforce and organisation and is a main access point for managers and colleagues. Senior management has agreed to allow disabled employees time off to attend meetings, which are held in wheelchair accessible venue. Signers and personal assistants can be arranged with prior notice.
