Stop Adult Abuse Week (June 10 – 14th)

Stop Adult Abuse Week is a local initiative that started in 2014 when a number of Local Safeguarding Adult Board Communications Groups in the South West decided to join together to run a week to focus attention on Safeguarding.

This year we are celebrating our fifth year working together with the aim of increasing local knowledge and understanding around the Mental Capacity Act 2005. The reason we wanted to focus on this piece of legislation is that poor use is cited in a number of Safeguarding Adults Reviews and its use is not as embedded through safeguarding practice as we would like.
