Independent Community Advocacy This service is for people who live in, or are registered with a GP in Bristol, who are 18 or over, and need support to access health and social care services including, but not limited, to:• people with learning disabilities• people with mental health needs• autistic people• people with a brain injury• people with physical or sensory disabilities• people aged 65 and older• carers• people with a minority ethnic background (including people from a Black, Asian, Eastern European, Roma, Traveller, or Gypsy background.)• people who identify as LGBTQ+ (including people who are transitioning).An advocate can support people to:• understand their rights and choices and get their voice heard• have their wishes and needs heard• receive information in a format that suits their access needs• find local support services• find an advocacy group• learn self-advocacy skillsYou can refer yourself to this service or a friend, family member, your carer, or a health and social care professional can refer you.
