Organisation Name WIAS
Website http://www.wiaswomen.org.uk
Full Description

WIAS is a group of women who met through a research project to find out what women need as support with alcohol issues.

The most helpful part for us was discovering and sharing the things which we found distressing, and our many ways of coping with these.

Now we are setting up our own web site so that women can share their experiences – including what has been helpful for them, and what they would like to see happen for themselves and for other women in the future.

WIAS will soon be seeking funding to re-start its meetings in central Bristol. These meetings are aimed at offering a social space for women to talk, have a coffee, and have fun - whether this means having a discussion, hearing a speaker, joining in a workshop, or going on an outing together. All the women involved have had alcohol issues and have managed to deal with them in a variety of ways. We have run these groups with great success in the past - some may remember us at the YHA near the Arnolfini.

We also hope to run a helpline.

Please let us know if this sounds of interest to you and we will let you know when we are successful - we will also let you know if we run any other events of interest.
