Reunite is the leading UK charity specialising in international parental child abduction. Reunite was formed in 1986 and registered as a charity in 1990 to provide advice, information and support to parents, family members and guardians who have had a child abducted or who fear child abduction. Reunite also provides advice to parents who may have abducted their child as well as advising on international contact issues.
Part - funded by the Department for Constitutional Affairs, the Foreign & Commonwealth Office and the Home Office Reunite also receives funding for specific projects frm charities and trusts as well as raising independent funds.
Whilst Reunite's philosophy is one that firmly believes any child abduction, whether or not a criminal offence, is wrong, they will do all they can to assist parents who may have abducted their child, and at the same time act strictly within the law. Strong emphasis is placed on helping parents to come out of hiding and to regulate the child's position within the law.
This often entails assisting the abducting parent, guardian or family member to come to terms with the fact that the child must be returned. Then, focusing all the time on the best interests of the child, to help return of that child take place with minimum disturbance and trauma.
