Thinking About Having a Baby

Choosing when you are ready for a baby is personal to you. There are lots of things to consider. We know there are some risks to having pregnancies too close together (or too far apart). It is important that you are as healthy as you can be before you start trying for a baby. If you have a long-term health condition (like diabetes, high blood pressure, a heart condition or something else you see your doctor for regularly), are overweight or take regular medications, you should talk to your healthcare professional before you become pregnant. There may be some changes you could make to increase your chances of a healthy pregnancy.
