Pregnancy Options

Pregnancy Options

A positive pregnancy test can cause different emotions.

There are three options to consider:

  1. Continue with the pregnancy
  2. Choose to have an abortion (end the pregnancy)
  3. Continue with the pregnancy and arrange for the baby to be adopted

Unity sexual health service has more information about your choices here: What are my pregnancy options? | Unity Sexual Health

Choosing to continue with the pregnancy

  • Book in with a midwife – you can do this online or by phone: Badger Notes – Self-refer your pregnancy to BNSSG
  • The midwifery team will contact you to offer you a first appointment.
  • All pregnant women should take folic acid and vitamin D – speak to your local pharmacist for advice.
  • See the NHS website for more information: Pregnancy – NHS

Choosing to have an abortion

Abortions are usually available free of charge on the NHS.

Considering Adoption

You will still need to book your pregnancy with a midwife and follow the advice in the ‘choosing to continue section’ above.

These websites offer some information about adoption and the process:
